Parental Engagement
Intervention parents' evening

Research shows that parental engagement is one of the key factors in ensuring children achieve their best at school.

On September 30th, we invited into school the parents and carers of all children receiving intervention, or extra support, for learning. Parents and carers could join in with modelled intervention sessions, watch their children learning, and then discuss any queries they had with intervention and class teachers afterwards.

We had around sixty sets of parents and carers in attendance! The evening was an incredible success. Thank you to those who did attend for being willing to get involved.

Here are some of the comments the visiting parents wrote on their 'exit card':

'Very well organised classes. Caring and helpful staff.'

'Interested to see how much research is done on the iPads and how they help expand ideas in the children. Amazed at how advanced the work was.'

'Numicon - what an excellent way of learning. We could see how much the children were enjoying learning maths.'

'It was highly entertaining and lovely to see what children do throughout their day!'

'It has helped me to understand why you do the interventions as in smaller groups the children can concentrate more and have a bit more help.'

'It showed me how hard my child really works at school.'

'Should have got higher in Ofsted.'

Global Citizenship

As part of our work on Global Citizenship we had a special Collective Worship during Refugee Week. A refugee is ‚Äča person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Mrs Spivey taught us all about Anne Frank, who was forced to leave her home during World War II. We learnt about why she had to flee her home and what her life was like.
