Boston St Nicholas C of E Primary School
Headteacher's Welcome
Dear Visitor

My name is Mrs Sally Birks and it is my pleasure to be the headteacher of this wonderful school. If you choose to send your child here, it will be the beginning of a home/school partnership through which we will work together to do the very best for your child. Our commitment is to treat children as individuals, to find out what motivates them and how they work best.

We will do our utmost to give your child a happy and rewarding time at St Nicholas. We will work to help your child achieve his or her full potential, making the most of his or her talents and skills whilst supporting any areas that he or she finds difficult. In return, we ask that you work with us so that home/school is a successful partnership. You will find details of what you can do to support your child further on this website, and in our school prospectus, available from the 'About Us' page.

I have a fantastic staff team and governing body who work extremely hard and are fully committed to our school. Together, we have raised the levels the children are achieving and attaining at, and pride ourselves on developing the whole child, so we can send children on to secondary school as confident, well-motivated pupils at the end of Year 6.

We like to have as much fun as we can in school. We have developed a creative curriculum which ensures children gain experience from visits and truly get to understand what it would be like, for example, to live in the rainforest or how it felt to witness the Great Fire of London.

We have a high number of staff to enable children to be taught in a variety of different ways, not just as a whole class but in small groups and, where necessary, individually. We are well resourced within all subjects but we are particularly committed to using IT and computing across the curriculum. Children have access to laptops and iPads, which they love!

We are proud of being a Church of England school, and it is this which underpins all that we do here. We welcome children of all faiths but expect everyone to have empathy with our Christian values and beliefs.

As a mum myself, I know just how quickly time moves by, and it is important that you get to enjoy every success your child achieves and treasure every moment of your child's development along the way. We actively welcome parents into our school on many occasions.

My belief as a headteacher is simple: if your child is happy, he or she will be successful. We spend time to develop children's self-esteem and confidence through high expectations and rewarding good behaviour, attitude and work.

We hope that you will want to be part of our school family and warmly welcome you if you choose, as we hope, for Boston St Nicholas to be your school.
