Welcome to the Spring Term!

Dear Parents/Carers

We are continuing to enjoy our time out in the mobile and are looking forward to the arrival of spring!

This term our new topic is all about the Victorians focusing on childhood and family life. This will give us the opportunity to write explanantions, reports and recounts. We are due to visit the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and we are all really looking for to the trip!

Last term I was very pleased with the way all the children worked hard on their reading at home and I particularly enjoyed reading their and your comments in the home school reading diaries. I would be grateful if you would maintain this support with your child and encourage him/her to read as many different types of books as possible. I will be continuing to monitor reading records on a weekly basis.

This term our PE sessions are scheduled on Mondays and Fridays. Please make sure your child has a PE kit in school at all times and the items are clearly named. I suggest a warm sweat shirt and/or jogging bottoms are also a good idea during the winter and early spring weather.

Our maths work will continue to focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with these skills being applied in lots of problem solving activities. It is important that your child is secure and confident in the recall of their times tables facts and I would be grateful if you could encourage him/her to practice these regularly.

In literacy our units of work will be closely linked to the new topic and we will learning how to develop our narrative writing using Alice in Wonderland as our starting point.

I have been pleased with the way the children have worked so hard and enthusiastically on the tasks set. Homework will continue to be set on Fridays and is due in on Tuesday.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to meeting soon at the parents’ evenings which are scheduled to take place in the Spring. In the meantime if you have any issues you wish to discuss please feel free to contact me via Mrs Oglesby or Mrs Dowse to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

Yours sincerely
Mrs S Almack
